Silicone rubber coated fiberglass cloth, also known as silicone coated fiberglass cloth, is an industrial insulation fabric made from fiberglass base cloth and then coated or impregnated on one side or both sides with silicone rubber. It has the characteristics of flat appearance, uniform color, no dust, easy to cut and sew. Silicone rubber coated fiberglass cloth has the advantages of excellent flexibility, good abrasive resistance, waterproof, fireproof, oilproof. Because the fabric is coated or impregnated with a layer of silicone rubber on its surface, it has improved the abrasive resistance and its tensile strength and tearing strength are higher than the uncoated fiberglass cloth. Its application is versatile.

Silicone rubber coated fiberglass cloth is a heat and cold insulation fabric. It not only can resist high temperature but also can resist low temperature. The temperature range of the fabric is from -70 degrees C to +280 degrees C. The cloth is flexible and can be made into fabric expansion joint (non-metallic compensator) which is a very useful device that can protect the equipments from damage caused by expansion while hot and contraction while cold.

As we know corrosion is an important problem in petrochemical industry and will damage many types of equipments. With a lay of silicone rubber coating on the surface, the cloth has excellent corrosion resistance and can resist many chemicals. Silicone rubber coated fiberglass cloth is an excellent corrosion resistant lining material which can be lined on the chemical equipments and protect them from corrosion caused by the attack of the chemical substances. It can prolong the chemical equipments’ service life.

Silicone rubber coated fiberglass cloth is a superior insulation material for making removable insulation jackets (reusable insulation jackets) which are commonly used for valves, pipes, tanks and meters. After the equipments wear the removable insulation jackets, their heat and cold insulation, corrosion resistance, weathering resistance and aging resistance can be greatly improved. When the equipments expose in the open air, the jackets can protect the equipments from weathering erosion and extend their service life. There are some hot steam pipelines in the site or on the open air. If workers and people accidentally touch the heat source, they will be scalded by heat. After the equipments wear the removable insulation jacket, workers will have a safer working environment and not easily to be scalded by hot steam pipes. When the equipment needs maintaining or cleaning, the jacket can be easily taken off.

The cloth also can be used as raw material for making car fire blanket. In the event of a fire, it can prevent car combustion and also protect the surrounding areas. The cloth is soft and can be used as covering and sealing material for equipments and instruments.

Silicone rubber coated fiberglass cloth has good electrical insulation property. It can withstand high voltage load and can be used as electrical insulation cloth and covering materials for electrical appliances and equipments. It also can be made into electrical insulation sleeves and other electrical insulation products.
