Glass fiber has excellent thermal insulation property. This is because it is a porous material with many tiny pores inside the fiber. The pores are filled with still air and air is a poor conductor of heat. When glass fiber products are used at high temperature condition, the air in the tiny pores does not flow freely. It blocks the heat to flow out of the pores, so glass fiber has a good thermal insulation effect. Due to low thermal conductivity, excellent thermal insulation property, glass fiber doesn’t reduce heat loss and can achieve a good energy-saving effect. Therefore, it is a superior thermal insulation and energy-saving material. On the contrary, when glass fiber products are used in cold conditions, the air in the pores also can prevent cold air to flow in from outside, so it is also a cold insulation material. Actually, glass fiber is an excellent heat and cold insulation material.  

Glass fiber can be made into a range of fiberglass products such as fiberglass cloth, fiberglass woven roving, fiberglass mat, fiberglass tape, fiberglass rope and so on. Fiberglass products can be used as insulation material for various kinds of high temperature resistant equipments and hot exhaust pipes. It also can be made into fabric expansion joint, removable insulation jacket (reusable insulation jacket) and personal protection products such as welding blanket, fireproof curtain, fireproof clothing, fireproof sleeve, etc. In addition, glass fiber has corrosion resistance to protect petrochemical equipments from the attack of the corrosive media such as acid, alkali and other chemical substances. As an insulating material, glass fiber has good insulation properties and can be extensively used in petrochemical, construction, automobiles, electrical and other fields.

Fiberglass cloth and tapes are insulation wrapping and covering materials that can be used to wrap variety of equipments and pipelines to provide them with excellent insulation properties and extend their service life. It can be used for sealing insulation material for furnace doors, expansion joint filler, etc. Fiberglass woven roving and fiberglass mat are the main materials to produce fiberglass reinforce plastic (FRP).
