The ground combustion towers (also called the ground flare) in the chemical companies and oil refineries are generally the vertical cylinders with the diameter of several meters to more than ten meters and the height of more than ten meters to tens of meters. The ground flare requires the lining material with the working temperature about 950℃. It doesn’t require the ceramic fiber blankets used as the backing lining and compensation material. The insulation thickness requirement of the ground flare is 150mm. Standard type ceramic fiber module can withstand working temperature of 1000℃. It has the common sizes of 300*300*150mm. Since the Standard type ceramic fiber module can meet all the requirements of the ground flare, it is the suitable material to be used as the thermal insulation lining for the ground flare.

The Characteristics of Ceramic Fiber Modules:

High tensile strength: The spun aluminum silicate fiber (spun ceramic fibre) is thick and long, which can increase the tensile strength and toughness of the fiber and can resist the thermal impact force in the tower.

Light weight: The density of aluminum silicate fiber modules (ceramic fiber module) is low, generally 220kg/m3 because the modules are made from the low density ceramic fiber blankets.

Thermal stability: The thermal insulation property of aluminum silicate fiber modules is stable. Rapid speed heating and cooling will not cause damage to the modules.

Low thermal conductivity: Aluminum silicate fiber can greatly reduce the heat transfer area and increase the thermal resistant property.

Long service life: The service life of aluminum silicate fiber modules can reach 6-7 years when the modules are used in the required temperature range. Regular maintenance of the damaged parts is necessary.   

High economic benefits: The reason why aluminum silicate fiber product has become the main thermal insulation material for the ground flare insulation is because of its good economic benefits, and the return is far greater than the pay.
