Ceramic fiber blanket and bio soluble fiber blanket are high temperature resistant materials which can be used as light weight refractory lining for furnace, kilns and other high temperature applications. Through double sided needling, their interweaving degrees, delamination resistance of the fibers and the tensile strength have been greatly improved. They have low thermal conductivity, excellent thermal insulation property and can reduce heat loss when they are used as thermal insulation products. They don’t contain binders and lubricants, so they will not appear smoke during the initial use.
Both products are white and soft. From the appearance, they are about the same, but they have different chemical compositions. Ceramic fiber blanket is also called aluminum silicate fiber blanket, because it is made from aluminum silicate fiber. Its main chemical components are Al2O3 and SiO2. However, bio soluble fiber blanket is a calcium-magnesium structure product. Its main chemical compositions are SiO2, CaO, MgO.
Due to different chemical compositions, ceramic fiber blanket and bio soluble fiber blanket have difference in environmental protection. Bio soluble fiber blanket is a more environmentally friendly product. If people inhale its fiber, it stays in human body for a short time and can be dissolved in the human body fluid easily. It does not harm to people’s health and is a safer product than traditional ceramic fiber blanket.
The temperature of ceramic fiber blanket is usually higher than the bio soluble fiber blanket. Ceramic fiber can resist working temperature from 1000℃ to 1350℃. However, bio soluble fiber blanket usually can resist working temperature of 1000 - 1100℃. By adjusting the ratio of the chemical components, the working temperature of the bio soluble fiber blanket can be increased higher than 1000-1100℃, but its price is high.
The price of bio soluble fiber blanket with working temperature of 1000℃ is only a little higher than ceramic fiber blanket. Both products have their own advantages. Customers can choose the suitable product according to the temperatures and applications required.
