Spun ceramic fibre blanket is a new type of refractory product. It is mainly used as fibrous refractory lining material for high temperature furnaces, kilns and other thermal insulation equipments. Spun ceramic fibre blanket has thicker and longer fibre than the blown ceramic fibre blanket, so its tensile strength is higher than blown ceramic fibre blanket. It can solve the problem that the blown ceramic fibre is easy to break. Through double sides needling, the spun ceramic fibre blanket becomes tight interweaving, non delamination among the fibres, good surface flatness and very high strength. The 128kg/m3 density spun blanket has the tensile strength of 50000Pa. With the high tensile strength, it can be folded and compressed into ceramic fibre module without tearing and breaking. Ceramic fibre module is an important fibrous refractory lining material for high temperature furnaces and kilns.
Spun ceramic fibre blanket is a lightweight fibrous product. The blanket has many tiny pores inside the fibre. Since the air in the pores can block the heat to flow out, it enables the blanket to have excellent thermal insulation property. The heat in the furnace is not easy to loose when the blanket is used as fibrous refractory lining material at high temperature condition. It can save 10-30% energy compared with the traditional refractory linings such as fire bricks and castables. Thus it can save energy and promotes the energy use efficient. The heating shrinkage of the spun ceramic fibre blanket is also small. When it is used at the temperature of 1000℃ for 24 hours, its heat shrinkage is only 3%. This shows that the blanket has very good heat stability.
Spun ceramic fibre blanket is soft and resilient. It can withstand violent thermal shock, so it is extremely suitable for use in the heating furnace which requires to rise and fall of the temperature frequently. Thus it can protect the furnace shell and prolong the furnace service life.
Compared to the blown ceramic fibre production process, the spun ceramic fibre processes has high production capacity. The production capacity of a single production line of spun fibre process can reach 2-4 times that of the blown process. Now spun ceramic fibre blanket accounts for 90% of the total ceramic fibre blankets in Chinese market.
