Ceramic fiber module is a white color and lightweight product made from spun ceramic fiber blankets. Its main raw material is high-quality stone clay (kaolin) and a small amount other ores which are melted in electric resistant furnace. The raw materials turn into molten liquid at the high temperature of 2000℃ and the molten liquid changes into spun ceramic fiber cotton by centrifugal force. After double sides needled of the ceramic fiber cotton, the spun ceramic fiber blanket has been produced.
Spun ceramic fiber blankets have excellent high temperature resistance, high tensile strength and can be widely used in many industrial fields. But if they are used as refractory lining in high temperature furnaces, its density is low. When they are used in some high temperature furnaces, the sealing performance is not good enough. At high temperature, the blankets will cause thermal shrinkage and produce gaps between them. They also have some difficulties in installation. After continuous research and development, the higher density and ease installation ceramic fiber modules have been invented.
Through folding, compressing and bundling of the spun ceramic fiber blankets, ceramic fiber modules with good resilience have been made. Ceramic fiber modules are excellent refractory insulation lining materials for furnaces and kilns because they have many advantages, such as low thermal conductivity, low thermal capacity, sound absorption and noise reduction, stable performance, etc. The module can maintain good tensile strength, toughness and fine fiber structure when it is used in a neutral and oxidizing environment for a long time. After installation of the module lining in the furnace, the strapping tapes bundled on the modules will be released. The modules expand, squeeze each other and become a very tight lining system. This can effectively make up for the heat shrinkage of the refractory fiber. The insulation effect of the module is remarkable and the anchoring system is reliable. The thermal shock resistance and mechanical shock resistance are effectively improved. Installation of the modules is convenient and production efficiency is improved. Once the ceramic fiber module came out, it has become the excellent insulation lining material for high temperature furnaces and kilns.
After repeated experiments, one layer of ceramic fiber modules plus one or two layers of ceramic fiber blankets has become the excellent combination of ceramic fiber lining for furnaces and kilns. It is popularized because of its good sealing and excellent heat insulation effect. At present, the combination of ceramic fiber modules and ceramic fiber blankets is widely used in petrochemical industry, electric power industry, boilers, all kinds of electric heating furnaces, metallurgical industry, ceramic kilns, tunnel kiln lining, thermal insulation linings of various thermal equipments, etc.
