Industrial furnaces usually take the full ceramic fiber materials as the thermal insulation lining. That is, the whole lining materials of the furnace adopt ceramic fiber without using other materials such as fire bricks or castables. When ceramic fiber lining is used in the furnace and kiln, it has superior high temperature resistance, low thermal conductivity, thermal shock resistance, energy saving, etc. Its thermal insulation effect is excellent.
The thickness of ceramic fiber thermal insulation layer of the furnace wall is normally no less than 350mm thick. The fibrous furnace lining is composed of one layer of 300mm thick folded ceramic fiber modules plus two layers of 30mm thick or one layer of 50mm thick ceramic fiber blankets. A layer of ceramic fiber coating is sprayed on the surface. Ceramic fiber coating works as the curing agent to form a protective layer for the lining. This can extend the furnace service life and promote its wind erosion resistance.
During the use of ceramic fiber lining, attention should be paid to avoid application in the furnace atmosphere of strong acid and strong alkali or sulfide gas in order to avoid erosive and corrosion to the ceramic fibre. The use of the lining can not exceed the specified temperature. If it is used incorrectly, it will cause the phenomenon of hardening, powdering and peeling off.
As long as the ceramic fiber lining is used and maintained properly, its service life can last more than 5 years. The service life of ceramic fiber lining for some types of furnaces can last more than 10 years.
